About Cam’s Camp
Hi, I’m Cam.
I’m a 31 year old half-English half-French nature lover (especially of red squirrels), ecologist, youth worker and campaigner.
I worked in environmental charities for 7 years and what I kept hearing was that young people want more opportunities to explore and enjoy nature. To really feel connected to nature. To be part of actions to help protect and restore the natural world.
So I’ve set out to create Cam’s Camp, a space where young people can explore and enjoy nature together and learn how to take action to protect the environment if they want to, or just relax outdoors sharing stories and adventures.
Currently, I work part-time at Heeley City Farm in Sheffield, delivering nature and animal care activities for young people who don’t feel that mainstream school is a place where they thrive every day. I also work casual shifts at Pitsmoor Adventure Playground supporting young people to descend dizzying slides, swing higher, race on the zipline, make treehouses, plant flowers, and let their imaginations run wild.
Before that, I was a plastics and nature campaigner at the charity Friends of the Earth, I campaigned for more accessible urban walking at The Ramblers, I co-created a Nature Club with the young people of Triangle Adventure Playground in London, I worked on air pollution for the Green Party, and I studied for a Masters in Ecology at the University of Sheffield whilst leading nature camps for young people in France and Italy during the summer holidays.
My favourite place to be is wild swimming in mountain pools in Corsica.
